Black women being the breadwinner has become a trend in America today. Statistics show there are 18 black women for every black man in corporate America today. The reasons for this trend have been discussed in many forums. Despite the reasons, this trend has caused animosity between black couples. Many black women have the misconception that their success intimidates black men. Black men are not intimidated, just frustrated with the attitude of black women. A large number of black women are using their blessings as leverage to disrespect black men.

There are many factors that have contributed to the imbalance in the financial status of black men versus black women. According to statistics more black women are going to and graduating from college than black men. There are fewer high-paying blue-collar jobs available to black men than in the past. There is also one factor that is often ignored by many black women. Corporations are more likely to hire a black woman than a black man for a white collar jobs. Black male graduates have less of a chance than black female graduates applying for the same position. Hiring black women "kills two birds with one stone." Black women look at the graduation rates and base their opinions on that statistic alone, ignoring the other factors.

A good black man is not intimidated by a woman's status. Most men appreciate women that strive to achieve. A good man encourages his woman to pursue her dreams. Status becomes a problem when a woman uses it to disrespect a man.

Many career women mistakenly believe they are a better catch than the traditional homemaker. Having a six-figure income does not make you a good catch. Good women are potential mothers that know how to please their men. Many career women ignore the other qualities it takes to keep a man. Because they have degrees and money many black women develop a God complex. Being humble is not an attribute that today's black women possess.

Too many single black women fool themselves into believing their status drives men away. What drives men away is the negative vibe that makes these women unapproachable. Maybe it's the frown on their face in public places. Maybe these women should wait 5 minutes before asking a man about his degrees, especially if it does not fit with the topic. A good-man does not approach women with negative energy regardless of status.

Successful black women should take a careful look in the mirror. Is it really intimidation or your attitude? Do you constantly remind your man that you are the breadwinner? If you are truly a good woman you will attract the type of man that will uplift your accomplishments. Perhaps you are poor at choosing a good man. Successful women should use their resources to help their men instead of using it as leverage. Earning a higher income does not give the black women the right to disrespect black men.
